Superstitions about animals

Why are superstitious?
The Man since the beginning of his existence has tried to explain the world that surrounds him.
When he did not have the necessary knowledge, he often resorted to the supernatural or superstitions.

It is no coincidence that there are so many myths, legends and superstitions about animals, some of which let’s face it,
we still believe today.
That’s because despite years of study and observation,
some animals are so atypical of human behaviour that we still cannot fully understand them.

Why do we believe superstitions?
Psychologists explain it by the fact that man feels happy and calm when he has control over things.
When he is not in control he tends to create imaginary connections between objects and events.
Thus we have also created superstitions to believe that we are in control of our luck, our destiny and our life in general.

Some superstitions related to animals are so old and so deeply rooted in our history and consciousness that even in today’s modern technological society we cannot shake them.

THE BLACK CAT
The first thing that comes to mind is “A black cat crossed my path!”
To have a black cat cross your path is a very bad omen, isn’t it 🙂
As a huge fan of black cats, the stigmatization of this unique animal has always been not only strange to me, but even insane.

At the same time though, a black cat in the home is believed to clear negative energy, not only from the home, but also from the people who live in it.
Cats in general are believed to be connected to the otherworld – that they exist in both worlds simultaneously and are therefore able to sense the supernatural and protect us.

For a change, next time don’t cross on the opposite sidewalk if you see a black cat, I guarantee nothing bad will happen to you, on the contrary – it might distract you from some negative thought 🙂.

INSECTS
Insects are main characters in many superstitions.
In recent years, the number of stink bugs, or stinkbugs in the vernacular, has increased significantly in big cities.
Although many people find it unpleasant and destroy it by any means, we know about the stink bug from our grandmothers that it brings good luck to the home it visits 🙂.

Think about it the next time you’re chasing these stinky invaders, if you’re chasing your luck.

Everybody likes butterflies 🙂
Even without being superstitious we are happy when we see them.
Indeed about butterflies most beliefs are that they bring good luck and prosperity.
There is also a superstition, however, that a swarm of butterflies is a sign of a hard winter.

BIRDS
There is no bird for which there are more superstitions than the CUCKOO!
Unconsciously, if it “cuckoos” us, we begin to listen..
One superstition says if we have money in our pocket when we hear a cuckoo it’s good luck and more money 🙂
And if our pockets are empty, it will stay that way.

Somewhere they even count how many times the bird will cuckoo and depending on that is a good or bad omen.

Count and listen next time because it can turn your life upside down 🙂
